Raw water pump Seal

Manger to get down to the boat today with the aim of replacing the seal in the raw water pump, the kit was 12.99 from repower marine but only needed one spring seal and the impeller gasket.

It can be done still attached to the engine but I decided to remove it any, 2 bolts are treated onto the pump, the top one a pain to remove as the engine mounts are in the way, with 2 being nut and bolt.

We had water leaking so it’s only the front seal needing to be replaced, a little persuasion using a screwdriver and just eased it out form the back and then popped in a replacement using a socket as a press.

Raw Water Pump

This week has been a little stressful, changed out the impeller and doing the engine test we had a small drip coming from the raw water pump. Shut down the engine, eventually remembered to close the raw water intake valve (after a slight gush of water), reseated the gasket but still not joy.

Left the boat for a couple days and remembered I hadn’t close the intake value so popped down today and was expecting to see some water but to my surprise not a drop! Thankfully the pump only leaks when it’s being run. New sealing kit on order !!

A new toilet

After 20+ years the Jabsco has finally become to plastic fatigue. Both the head and base screw lug fittings to the plate lost their thread so no option than to replace.
